Full Stack Engineer (Python + React.js)

Description

We are looking for experienced Full Stack Engineers (React, Python) to join our client’s growing office in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Our client believes Enterprise Engineering Technology is the place to be if you want to work where forward-thinking, open, collaborative technology meets both quantitative and discretionary investment management. You’ll be working alongside engineering teams to build tools that enable portfolio managers, researchers, and risk managers to better understand their portfolios, manage their risk, and trade their ideas. These tools will be critical to the day-to-day running of the firm.

Our Technology:
We like to build our web apps using React/Redux with Python on the backend but are always open to new ideas and approaches. Our technology stack is progressive and developer-led: OpenStack servers, Kubernetes for container orchestration, Prometheus, Loki, and the ELK stack for metrics, logs, and monitoring. We use Jenkins to build and test our code. We use Slack for messaging and our developers have a choice between Mac Books or Windows laptops for hardware.

What you’ll do:
•Tackle the complex problem of building frontends that balance usability with data density
•Collaborating with our engineering teams in London and Boston to build, design, and deploy tools for our portfolio managers, researchers, and risk managers
•Work through all phases of development and design
•Gather feedback from end users and help solve their problems
•Improve, maintain, and drive forward our existing tools
•Establish good UI/UX best practices across Alpha Tech

Who are you?
•You have deep knowledge of modern web development using Typescript, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
•You have proficiency in at least one JavaScript Framework such as React, Vue.js, Angular or similar
•You have experience with Python backend development. Exposure to Pandas and Numpy are a bonus
•You can design and build web interfaces with a high information density, fast and frequent updates, and/or complex visualizations.
•You are a great communicator and good at working remotely with others
•Having some experience further up the stack (especially with Python) is advantageous
